The Adult Child. Not the Parent.

Seniors don't Google "grab bar installation near me." Their kids do — usually after a scare, a call, or a visit where they noticed something that should have been handled months ago.

For Adult Children Managing a Parent's Home

You're in New York, New Jersey, or Boston. Your parent is in Greenwich, Darien, or White Plains. You've been meaning to handle the bathroom for months. You need someone trustworthy who won't overcharge them.

  • Book online from anywhere — no need to be there in person
  • We coordinate directly with your parent or whoever has home access
  • Job completed and confirmed same week in most cases
  • Service summary sent to you after every visit
  • Transparent package pricing — no open-ended hourly estimates
  • Licensed, insured, and background-checked technicians

For Seniors Staying in Their Home

You've been in this house for decades. You're not going anywhere. You just need the bathroom to work with you, not against you.

  • Grab bars that actually hold — anchored for 250 lbs of real load
  • Placement guidance included — we tell you exactly where they'll help most
  • Bar styles that look like intentional fixtures, not hospital equipment
  • Tile bathrooms handled without cracking anything
  • Fast, clean, respectful service on your schedule
  • Additional aging-in-place services available in the same visit

Every Type of Grab Bar. Every Bathroom.

Shower bars, toilet-side bars, tub entry bars, and more. We supply bars or install bars you've already purchased — any brand, any style.

🚿

Shower Grab Bars

Horizontal bars along the shower wall for balance and support. Typically 24 to 36 inches, positioned at hip height. Critical for any shower without a seat or threshold.

🛁

Bathtub Entry Bars

Diagonal or vertical bars at the tub entry point — the most hazardous single movement in any bathroom. Reduces the one-legged step-over into a supported transfer.

🪑

Toilet-Side Grab Bars

Bars mounted beside the toilet to support lowering and rising. Eliminates one of the highest-frequency daily balance challenges for older adults. Offset flange mounting available for tile walls.

🔄

Fold-Down Bars

For smaller bathrooms where a fixed bar would obstruct access. Folds flat against the wall when not in use. Popular in guest bathrooms that need to serve multiple generations.

📐

Angled Tub Bars

For over-the-tub shower conversions — the bar spans the tub deck and provides a grab point at the most vulnerable moment: stepping over the tub wall.

A Grab Bar That Fails Is Worse Than No Bar at All.

The most common grab bar failure is a bar installed with standard drywall anchors or toggle bolts that weren't rated for dynamic load. Under static pressure it feels solid. Under a body-weight grab during a fall — it pulls out. We have re-installed bars that were put in by other handymen, contractors, and the homeowner themselves. The failure pattern is always the same.

Every installation we do starts with a stud finder. We anchor into studs when they're available at the right position. When they're not, we use toggle anchors rated at 300 lbs per anchor, two anchors per bar end, and we do not use standard hollow-wall anchors for grab bar installation under any circumstances.

  • Stud location confirmed with electronic finder before any drilling
  • Toggle anchors rated minimum 300 lbs per anchor used when studs unavailable
  • Tile drilling done with carbide-tip bits at low speed — no cracks
  • Every bar tested at 250 lbs static load before we leave
  • Bar position confirmed with the occupant before drilling begins

What We Never Use

  • Standard drywall anchors — not rated for body weight loads
  • Suction cup bars — fail under dynamic load, no exceptions
  • Towel bar hardware — decorative only, not structural
  • Single-anchor mounting — all bars get two anchors per end
  • Installation without confirming wall cavity type first

Fairfield County & Westchester — Real Calls, Real Jobs

These are the situations that come through the phone. If any of them sounds like yours, call or book online.

A son in Manhattan called after his 81-year-old mother mentioned she slipped getting out of the shower but "didn't fall." She lives alone in a four-bedroom colonial in Greenwich. He needed two bathroom bars and a toilet grab bar installed before his next visit. We booked same week. Full Safety Package, tile walls, completed in one visit. He received a service summary that afternoon.

A 74-year-old man came home from a week in Stamford Hospital after a hip replacement. His daughter called us the morning of discharge. We had two shower bars and a toilet-side bar installed by 3pm the same day he came home. Recovery with a safe bathroom is different from recovery without one — his physical therapist said so at the first home visit.

A daughter in Chicago manages her mother's home in White Plains remotely. She had already purchased Moen bars from Amazon and needed professional installation. We installed three bars at the client-supplied rate, confirmed placement with her via text before drilling, and sent photos of every finished bar. She's now on a quarterly maintenance check schedule.

Common Questions

How much does grab bar installation cost in Connecticut? +
We charge $235 for a single bar (labor only, you supply the bar), $361 for the Starter Safety Package (2 bars, hardware included), $535 for the Full Safety Package (3 bars, hardware included), and $850 for up to 6 bars. A tile surcharge of $99 to $129 per bar applies for tile or stone walls. All prices are fixed — no open-ended hourly billing.
Do grab bars need to go into studs? +
Studs are preferred. We locate them first and anchor directly when possible. For tile walls or positions where studs aren't aligned with the ideal bar placement, we use heavy-duty toggle anchors rated for 300 lbs per anchor — two per bar end. We never use standard drywall anchors for grab bars that will bear body weight.
Can grab bars be installed on tile walls? +
Yes. Tile requires a carbide-tip drill bit, slow speed, and correct anchor selection for the wall cavity. We handle this on most jobs in Fairfield County. A tile surcharge of $99 to $129 per bar applies. We have not cracked a tile on a properly executed installation.
How many grab bars do I need? +
A properly equipped bathroom typically needs 2 to 3 bars: one horizontal in the shower or along the tub wall, one at the tub or shower entry point, and one beside the toilet. Our Full Safety Package covers all three. We assess placement on arrival and confirm with the occupant before drilling anything.
Can a handyman install grab bars or do I need a licensed contractor? +
Grab bar installation does not require a licensed contractor in Connecticut or New York for residential applications. It is handyman-level work. We install to ADA placement guidelines, anchor to structural standards, and test every bar at 250 lbs. No permit is required for non-structural bathroom hardware installation.
What weight can grab bars hold? +
ADA-compliant grab bars are rated for a minimum 250-pound static load. The bars we supply meet this standard. The anchor method — stud or rated toggle — also meets this load. We test every bar before leaving. A bar that shifts under pressure gets re-anchored on the spot at no charge.
How long does grab bar installation take? +
A single bar takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on wall type. The Full Safety Package (3 bars) is typically done in under two hours. We bring all hardware, a stud finder, and tile bits on every job. Most customers book in the morning and have everything installed before lunch.
What is the difference between ADA and regular grab bars? +
ADA grab bars must be 1.25 to 1.5 inches in diameter, have 1.5 inches of clearance from the wall, and be rated for 250 lbs. Standard decorative towel bars do not meet these standards and should never be used as grab bars. All bars we supply are ADA-compliant. If you supply your own, we confirm they meet the standard before installation.
Do you install grab bars in Westchester NY? +
Yes. We serve White Plains, Rye, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, Yonkers, and surrounding Westchester County. Call (475) 500-7126 or book online — same-day scheduling is typically available throughout our service area.
