Six Types of TV Mounting Jobs We Handle

TV mounting is not one job. The wall, the TV, the mount type, and the wire situation each change the approach entirely. Here is how we handle each scenario in Fairfield County homes.

📺

Standard Wall Mount

Fixed or tilt bracket mounted to wall studs with lag bolts rated for over 200 lbs. Level, secure, correct height. TVs 32 inches to 85 inches. The most common install across Fairfield County.

From $199
🔥

Above the Fireplace

The most technically demanding TV mount in the home. We address heat clearance, correct tilt angle to keep viewing comfortable, and wire routing through or around the fireplace surround. Done in one visit.

From $249
🌟

Samsung Frame and OLED

The Frame requires the inner VESA holes, a Slim Fit or micro-gap mount, and correct magnetic contact engagement. Standard mounts installed wrong leave the Frame an inch off the wall. We do this weekly.

From $249

Full-Motion and Articulating

Corner mounting, swing-out for flexible seating, articulating arms for multi-use rooms. Full-motion mounts extend up to 18 inches and multiply load force by 3x. Stud anchoring is non-negotiable.

🔒

Wire Concealment

In-wall cable routing for drywall walls using UL-listed in-wall power kits that meet electrical code. Paintable raceway for plaster, brick, and concrete where in-wall is not an option. Clean finish every time.

Specialty Surfaces

Plaster and lath in pre-1960 Fairfield County homes. Brick and stone fireplace surrounds. Exterior masonry walls. Metal studs in condos and newer builds. Each surface requires a different anchor approach. We evaluate before drilling.

What Goes Wrong

Four Mistakes That End With a Broken TV or a Call to Us

Most TV mounting problems are not about tools or effort. They are about decisions made before the first drill hole. Here is what we see and fix on a regular basis in Fairfield County.

Problem 01

TV Mounted Too High

Above a standard fireplace mantel, your viewing angle is 35 to 45 degrees above eye level. THX and SMPTE define comfortable viewing at 0 to 15 degrees above eye level. Extended watching at 35 degrees causes neck strain, eye fatigue, and eventually a TV you stop using as your primary screen.

35 to 45 degrees above eye level = discomfort per THX and SMPTE standards
Problem 02

TV Pulled From the Wall

Drywall screws hold 5 to 10 lbs each without studs. A 65-inch TV weighs 55 to 70 lbs. A full-motion mount extended 18 inches multiplies the effective load by a factor of three or more. Wrong anchors do not fail immediately. They loosen over weeks and fail at the worst moment.

5 to 10 lbs per drywall screw vs. 55 to 90 lbs for a large TV
Problem 03

Heat Damage Above a Gas Fireplace

A gas fireplace produces 20,000 to 35,000 BTUs per hour. That is enough heat to warm a 1,400-square-foot home. Extended exposure to those temperatures causes dead pixels, melted components, and a voided manufacturer warranty. Tilt mounts and correct clearance are required, not optional.

20,000 to 35,000 BTUs per hour from a standard gas fireplace
Problem 04

Samsung Frame Installed With the Wrong Mount

The Frame's outer VESA holes are recessed and designed for the Samsung No Gap Wall Mount only. Standard mounts attached to those holes leave the TV sitting an inch off the wall. The one-connect cable does not route correctly. The magnetic contacts do not engage. We fix this regularly.

Inner VESA holes only with Slim Fit or micro-gap mount

Every Surface We Work On in Fairfield County

Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, and Westport have a high proportion of pre-1960 homes with plaster walls. Newer Stamford and Norwalk condos use metal studs. Here is how we handle each surface.

Most Common

Drywall With Studs

Standard install. Stud finder used on every job. Lag bolts into wood studs rated for 250 lbs each. No drywall anchors on any TV mount.

Pre-1960 CT Homes

Plaster and Lath

Plaster alone will not hold a TV. We locate studs using a multi-step process and use correct anchors. Plywood backing plate method used when stud spacing does not align with VESA holes.

Fireplace Surrounds

Brick and Stone

Masonry drill bits and sleeve anchors rated for the load. Correct clearance from the firebox. More time than drywall but a completely secure install.

Condos and New Builds

Metal Studs

Common in Stamford and Norwalk condos. Metal studs are hollow and require toggle bolts rated specifically for metal stud walls. Standard wood-stud hardware is not appropriate.

TV Mounting Questions

How much does TV mounting cost in Connecticut? +
Our flat rate starts at $199 for standard mounts on TVs 55 inches and smaller. Larger TVs start at $239. Above-fireplace installs and Samsung Frame installations start at $249. Wire concealment is quoted by scope. No hourly billing and no charges added after the fact. Call (475) 500-7126 to confirm your specific job before booking.
Do you mount TVs above fireplaces in Fairfield County? +
Yes. Above-fireplace TV mounting is among our most common requests. We use tilt mounts that bring the viewing angle down toward a comfortable range, address heat clearance requirements, and handle wire concealment through or around the fireplace surround. We also advise on electric vs. gas fireplace heat output and what clearance is needed for your specific TV model.
Can you mount a TV on plaster walls in Connecticut? +
Yes. Plaster and lath walls are extremely common in Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Westport, and Wilton, where a significant portion of homes were built before 1960. Plaster alone will not hold a TV, but studs behind the plaster absolutely will. We locate them correctly using a multi-step process and use the appropriate non-pointed hardware for plaster walls. We can also use a plywood backing plate method when stud spacing does not match your TV's VESA hole pattern.
Do you install Samsung Frame TVs? +
Yes. The Frame is one of our most common TV mounting requests across Fairfield County. It requires inner VESA holes (not the outer recessed holes), a Slim Fit or micro-gap compatible mount with a 7.5mm or smaller profile, and correct engagement of the magnetic contacts. We also handle one-connect cable routing so the install looks clean and intentional from every angle.
Do you hide the wires after mounting? +
Yes. We offer two wire concealment approaches. For drywall walls, we run cables inside the wall using a UL-listed in-wall power kit for the power cable, which meets electrical code. For plaster, brick, or concrete walls where in-wall is not feasible, we use a paintable raceway that runs along the wall surface and can be painted to match your wall color.
Do you provide the wall mount bracket? +
The base price does not include the mount. Many customers already have the mount they want. If you need us to source a mount, we can recommend the correct type for your wall and TV combination. Samsung Frame mounts, full-motion mounts for plaster walls, and fireplace tilt mounts all have specific requirements we can guide you through. Call (475) 500-7126 to discuss before booking.
What towns do you serve in Connecticut? +
We serve all 13 towns listed above: Greenwich, Cos Cob, Old Greenwich, Riverside, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, New Canaan, Wilton, Weston, Rowayton, and White Plains, NY. Same-day and next-day appointments are available across the service area.
